6. Cho Oyu Base Camp Trek (Nepal)

Copyright © 2026 8K Base Camp Challenge

Trek Overview

This trek leads you to Cho Oyu, the “Turquoise  Goddess” and the world’s sixth‑highest peak on the Nepal–Tibet border.  Its South Base Camp lies near Gokyo in western Sagarmatha National Park,  where nearby Gokyo Ri offers sweeping views of Everest, Lhotse, and  other Himalayan giants. Turquoise Gokyo Lakes and dramatic glacier  terrain make this one of the Khumbu’s most striking landscapes. A  quieter alternative to the Everest Base Camp route in the eastern part  of the park, this trek delivers high‑altitude scenery in spades, and  close‑up views of Cho Oyu’s immense south face.

(Cho Oyu’s North Base Camp, ~4,900 m, lies in Tibet, China, and is accessible by road.)
